Who?

in Ubud, Bali

I am a born and raised Pittsburgher (although not a Yinzer, thanks) who somehow escaped Pittsburgh without having rabid Steeler fever.  McKeesport and White Oak are where I spent my childhood, and directly after high school graduation I moved up to northern Pennsylvania where I attended Edinboro University.  There I studied traditional animation and art history.

Shortly after graduating with my BFA, I moved to the other side of PA in 2004 to see what Philadelphia had to offer.  I really fell in love with Philli, which is not too surprising as a history buff, there are few places in America that have much of a historic feel.  I settled right in Old City and got to work in the publishing industry.

Having felt the incredible urge to travel and explore ever since I was a child (even more so  after spending the summer of 2003 studying art history in England and Italy) I decided to make a move to the booming Middle Eastern city of Dubai in 2008.  There I worked in the publishing industry until 2010, when I began work with a local art gallery, which thus far has proven to be an excellent change of career for me.

I am currently residing in Dubai, enjoying the incredibly hot weather, endless sunshine and ease of traveling to parts of the world which were difficult to reach from America.

    Hi Laurel!
I was blogwalking and found your blog. I’ve always wanted to travel across the globe since I was little and the real travels have just started a few years back. Right now I’m searching for travel inspirations out there and your blog is definitely one of them.
    Cheers,

    Hey Laurel!

I just moved to Dubai a few weeks ago from Adelaide, Australia to meet up with my husband who’s been working here for a couple of months. I’m a writer, but I really love visual art, too.
Stumbled across your blog today and absolutely fell in love with it! I look forward to following it! : )

    Cheers,
    Margot

Checked out your Tumblr, and regarding the moon the other night – I too remember thinking it looked exceptionally lovely! Plus, it was absolutely HUGE as the sun was setting in the evening! Loved it.
